Three Random Things Vol.23

Dear Readers,

Almost exactly 2 years ago was my last post about Three Random Things. And it was about Durga Puja. So I thought this would be a good time to revive the series, now that the 2017 Durga Puja concluded a week ago.

For this week my three random questions are.... based on fasting. Why? well lots of fasting  festivals during this time of the year.... Just a random thought that struck me.

Q1. Do you fast for faith or health or any other random reason?

Answer: I fast fast for faith. I have dedicated Friday's to my chosen deity and I eat cereals (rice/wheat based food) only once that day. Through that day I eat only fruits, milk and a fist full of mixed nuts. I feel it helps instil a sense of discipline and I'm not munching just any thing that I can get my hands on. Perhaps it makes me eat healthy that one day.

Q2. Have you ever gone on a complete fast, avoiding even water?

Answer: Yes, once. I was in college and decided to challenge myself on Kali Puja (New Moon day in October/November) also known as Diwali. This fast requires the nothing, not even water will pass your lips. This fast begins just before sunrise on that day and continues through the day, into the night and into the wee hours of the next morning till the Kali Puja rituals are concluded which could be about 2.00 am. So a total of almost 24 hrs. To say the least it was exhausting and I have never tried it again.

Q3. What tempts you most if you are fasting (by choice or by force)?

Answer: Cake. Rich chocolate cake.....

I tag you to answer these questions. You may answer one, two or all three. Please answer in the comments section below.

Three Random Thoughts Vol. 20

Hello Everyone!

How it rained in Delhi on Sunday!! I found myself bailing out water with a mug and bucket from the two balconies. The outflow of water was much slower than what was coming down from the skies!!

So what are the random thoughts that hit me in the past week?

Q1. How long do you sleep at night?

Answer: Last couple of weeks I have been sleeping only 4.5 - 5 hrs at night. Work and the kids keep me busy through the day and I like to watch a bit of TV before going to sleep as a little bit of me time. I know. I know, I'm three hours short of my beauty sleep. Hopefully, I'll catch up soon.

Q2. How soundly do you sleep?

Answer: That depends on how exhausted I am. When I'm generally relaxed, I can wake up at the slightest sound or movement. But if I've had a tough day, I'm known to have slept through earthquakes and people ringing my doorbell for nearly half an hour, before I registered what was happening!

Q3. What is the last thing you do before going to sleep?

Answer: I sprinkle a few drops of lavender essential oil on my pillow case before going to sleep.

Three Random Things Vol.19

Hi Everyone!

Happy Monday! Yesterday was Friendship Day. When I was growing up, we did not really have these Friendship, Valentine's, Mother's or Father's days or other such similar 'Days' that we observed and celebrated. Many argue that greeting card companies, especially Hallmark, actually thought up these days to boost sales of their products beyond Christmas, New Year and birthdays.

But I say, as long as you are celebrating, and not hurting anyone, how does it matter?

So now for today's questions.....

Q1. Do you remember your first ever friend?

Answer: Yes, I do. We went to preschool together and were neighbours too! One of Our dad's would drop us to school in the morning and our moms would walk us back home together. We were truly joined at the hip!

Q2.  Who is your oldest friend ever?

Answer: The very same mentioned above. Both of us are married with kids now, yet we find time to touch base with one another. Both our families also do a picnic together in the winters.

Q3. When did you meet your BFF?

Answer: I met my BFF while pursuing a Masters Degree. We've been with each other through thick and thin. We've fought and made up. We are located nearly 1500 kilometers from each other. We don't always talk everyday. Yet we have a connection.

Day #5 of 7Days 7Eyes Challenge with Sugar Eye Told You So! Waterproof Eyeliner

Hello Everyone!

How had your week shaped up so far? My week has been quite happenning,  with work and the fun that I've been having with the 7Days 7Eyes Challenge I've set myself.

I'm going a bit retro today and have created a 60's Bollywood eye.....

This is a super easy look to create. Most of you know a bold cat-eye can really make your eyes look larger and that wa the secret of the doe-eyed beauties that graced the cine screens of the 60's in Bollywood (Hindi Film Industry in India).

Begin by applying a pale shimmer on your top eyelid. I have used Avon Simply Pretty Marbelized Eye Shadow Stick in Emerald Icon Boldline your upper lash with  Sugar Eye Told You So! Waterproof Eyeliner in Black and boldly flick the outer edge of the top lash. Tightline the lower lash. You are done!

Share your eyeliner ideas too in the comments section below.....

Hi All!

How do you like the challenge so far? Actually, I'm quite enjoying myself. Today's Eye is inspired by the swallow.

This Eye is super easy to achieve! Line your upper lash with Sugar Eye Told You So Waterproof EyeLiner. Extend the line to form a wing. Line your lower lash and wing it out towards your ear. Voila!!
