Product Review: Avon Metallic Effects Nail Enamel in Jade Reflection

Hi Everyone!

Today I am reviewing a new nail polish launched by Avon India. Avon has a wide selection of nail paints at different price points. The new Metallic Effects range has just been launched in August 2015. It comes in five shades namely, Jade Reflection, Icy Purple, Foiled Chrome, Arctic Steel and Copper Gleam. Of these, I am reviewing the shade Jade Reflection. Let us see how the product fared on me...

Product Claim:

Avon's Metallic Effects Nail Enamel comes with

  • Ultra Reflective Mirror Shine Finish
  • Intense Metallic Polish
  • Chip Resistant
Product Price: INR 249/- for 8ml

 My Take on the Product

The Avon Metallic Effects Nail Enamel comes in a rectangular glass bottle with a black plastic cap. The brush has a good thickness and helps apply the product smoothly. The formula of the product itself is excellent. It is not thin and runny like many nail polishes. It is comfortably thick and gives true colour and opaque finish in one application. For the swatches here I have applied only one coat. I'm not so sure of the mirror finish, but its definitely has a beautiful metallish sheen to it. It really does catch the eye!

The product lasted well on my nails. Considering I had applied only one coat and no top coat, I could see fading on the tips after 4 days of wear. That too was quite imperceptible and would be visible on close and careful scrutiny. There was no chipping for almost 6 days. So, I would say, the product comes good on its promise.

All the colours in this range are really pretty. I know I will pick up more shades in this range.

Pros:

  1. Good packaging.
  2. Good brush, helps in smooth application.
  3. Few shades, but each one is really nice.
  4. True colour and opacity in one coat.
  5. Lasts for a good 4 days before fading at the tips.
  6. No chipping for 6 days.
Cons:
  1. I would have loved a lower price point..

Overall Verdict: 4.8/5. I've loved this Nail Enamel. And I'm buying more shades!!

Product Review: Oriflame Pure Colour Nail Polish Mini in Midnight Blue (30803) and a Festive Spirit: NOTD in Moons in Midnight!

Hey All!

I bought the Oriflame Pure Colour Nail Polish Mini in Midnight Blue (30803) but hadn't got around to using it. But as it got colder and foggier I thought to myself,  "Winters is a season for dark colours and some shine". So I combined the two for this NOTD. And then I thought, "Lets add a review too".

So here goes......

What the Brochure Said:

Glossy, high-shine nail polish in a wide range of exciting shades. Gorgeous finish, fantastic colours.

Price: INR 129/- for 6ml

 My Thoughts:

The product comes in a transparent, cylindrical glass bottle with a black screw cap. The lettering in silver looks pretty. The brush is good and helps an even application. The formula is a nice consistency that applies smoothly without uneven patches. You need at least two coats for true colour. On application of three coats the nail polish lasts upto 4-5 days till it starts to fade from the tips of the nails. It gives a lovely finish. There are really tiny shimmer particles which give it a slight pearly finish. The product dries fairly quickly. I was able to remove it fairly easily using a regular nail polish remover.

Pros:
  1. Good packaging.
  2. Good brush which helps smooth application.
  3. Gives true colour in two coats.
  4. Lasts 4-5 days.
  5. Good finish.
  6. Dries quickly.
  7. Easily removed.
Cons:
None really.

Overall Verdict:
This is a great product at this price point.  4.75/5!

 And here's the NOTD!!

NOTD with Maybelline

Hi Beauties!

Another NOTD!! As I said earlier, these have been sitting in my drafts, and now they come out!!

This time the NOTD is a combination of Maybelline Color Show (Party Porcelain) and Maybelline Colorama (Rosa Cristal).

The Colorama I got as a free gift for shopping at Nykaa.com on a Friday.

I loved the shade and immediately got to work. A lovely pearly light pink. Its a great product! Its got a good brush and the polish spreads well and dries quickly. You get a lovely translucent colour on first application, but for true colour you need to apply two coats.

As I was applying the first coat, I thought that this was a great shade for a french manicure. So I did just that!

Here are the results. What do you think?

Price: INR 75/-
Quantity: 6ml

My Take on the Product:

A brilliant product in this price range!! Maybelline is known to bring in really affordable beauty products and this nail polish is another great product from its stables. The formula is very nice and gives opacity in two coats. you will get the true colour in a single coat! Even if you have ridged nails, the nail polish gives a smooth, even finish! It has an excellent easy-flow brush which effectively spreads the polish on the nails.

The formula is long-lasting. It sat on my nails for a good 3 days, without chipping, considering that my domestic help was on leave and I was doing all the cooking, cleaning and dishes. I also have two young children and I am either helping them wash or cleaning my hands before giving them their meals and snacks. So considering all that, I would say the formula is really long lasting!

I love the fact that it comes in 40 shades!

This is a true nude for my skin tone and I just love it!

I have a big voter's ink mark on my index finger-nail and it is nearly invisible under two thin coats of polish.

Pros:
  1. 40 shades to suit all ages, skin tones and preferences.
  2. Very well pigmented.
  3. Gives true colour in single coat.
  4. Gives effective opacity in two coats.
  5. Evens out ridges and other minor nail imperfections.
  6. Easy, even application with easy-flow brush.
  7. Long-lasting formula.
  8. Does not chip even when subjected to regular house-work.
  9. Very reasonably priced!
Cons:
Can't think of any!

 5/5.

Product Review: La Splash Nail Polish Sparkling Rose

A very quick review of a nail polish that came in my Fab Bag. Click on www.fabbag.com  to get yours. La Splash is a US based brand which started in 2002

The brand has a large variety of Nail colours. You can see all the information Here.

It is a 9ml bottle of MRP INR 500/-
My Experience with this product:
I was quite thrilled to see this bottle of Nail Polish in my December Fab Bag. and quickly removed my existing nail paint to wear this. Its a lovely rose pink with pretty large glitter particles, almost 1 mm in diameter. These glitter particles are in colours of the rainbow.
When I put on the first thin coat, it looked more like a transparent nail polish with some scattered glitter particles. Then I put on a thicker coat by letting some of the polish run off the brush on to my nails. This gave a truer effect. However the very next day a chunk of the nail polish came off one of the nails, and more chips fell off over the next two or three days.  When I finally wanted to remove it my regular Lakme nail polish remover was quite useless against it. I finally had to get some spirit from the Chemistry Lab to get off , but that too required a lot of effort. Finally I had to scrape it off with a nail file!!!
Pros:
1. Nice colour
2. Lot of glitter particles. So good for those who like some bling!
3. May be used as part of nail art.
Cons:
  1. Very expensive for a not so long-lasting nail polish. At INR 500/- for 9 ml!
  2. Doesn't last long, starts chipping the very next day.
  3. Very tough to remove, so hurts your nails.
  4. Too much product needed to get a good colour pay-off.
Product Rating: 2/5
Will I buy this product again?
Are you kidding? I can get far better nail polishes for less than half the price!!
