Price: INR 75/-
Quantity: 6ml

My Take on the Product:

A brilliant product in this price range!! Maybelline is known to bring in really affordable beauty products and this nail polish is another great product from its stables. The formula is very nice and gives opacity in two coats. you will get the true colour in a single coat! Even if you have ridged nails, the nail polish gives a smooth, even finish! It has an excellent easy-flow brush which effectively spreads the polish on the nails.

The formula is long-lasting. It sat on my nails for a good 3 days, without chipping, considering that my domestic help was on leave and I was doing all the cooking, cleaning and dishes. I also have two young children and I am either helping them wash or cleaning my hands before giving them their meals and snacks. So considering all that, I would say the formula is really long lasting!

I love the fact that it comes in 40 shades!

This is a true nude for my skin tone and I just love it!

I have a big voter's ink mark on my index finger-nail and it is nearly invisible under two thin coats of polish.

Pros:
  1. 40 shades to suit all ages, skin tones and preferences.
  2. Very well pigmented.
  3. Gives true colour in single coat.
  4. Gives effective opacity in two coats.
  5. Evens out ridges and other minor nail imperfections.
  6. Easy, even application with easy-flow brush.
  7. Long-lasting formula.
  8. Does not chip even when subjected to regular house-work.
  9. Very reasonably priced!
Cons:
Can't think of any!

Product Rating:
 5/5.

Will I buy it again?

Product Review: Coloressence Pearl Effect Eyeshadow Pencil in Aqua Blue

Hi all!
Today I will be reviewing the Coloressence Pearl Effect Eye Shadow in Aqua Blue. I picked up this product more as a filler with my regular online purchase on www.medplusbeauty.com
I did not have a whole lot of hope from this product, but it surprised me....

Look 2:

In the above pics I am not wearing any make-up. Its a bare application of the product only on lids with a thin line of liquid eyeliner. I am wearing no mascara either. This was to show how the product looks raw on the skin.

Product Claim:
With its spectrum of color alternatives, Coloressence Eye Shadow Pencils complete the perfect make-up look.
Line your eyelids or dab on as an eyeshadow with a single touch. The color does not lighten or melt and shines all day long.

Price: INR 165/- for 2.5 gms of product

My Take on the Product:

I had picked up this product without any serious consideration, when I had ordered some products online on medplusbeauty.com
I had no great hopes from this product, but I was quite pleasantly surprised!

The product comes in a black crayon package format with a transparent plastic cap. It is a retractable product and therefore needs no sharpening, reducing wastage of product.

It has creamy texture and glides on easily. It did not dry my lids after application.  It is well pigmented and has a decent colour pay off. The colour can be built further than what I have done on my eyes. I have just applied a single swatch of colour in the photo.

The colour is fairly long-lasting. It began to fade only after about 6 hrs of application. However it tends to crease quite soon,  though only along the the upper lid crease line. I noticed creasing after about 2 hrs.

I actually prefer to use it as an eye-liner. However, the dramatic blue pigment makes me a little uncomfortable and I further line my eyes with a thin line of black liquid liner. This downplays the drama and can be used like this during a regular work day. This also helps avoid the creasing issue.

The product can even be used as a base shadow over which you can apply regular powder eyeshadow for more dramatic build-up.

Pros:
  1. Creamy Texture
  2. Glides on easily
  3. Does not dry the lids.
  4. Good pigments.
  5. Twist up crayon so no product wastage doe to sharpening.
  6. Colour fairly long-lasting.
  7. Sets even better with powder eyeshadow over it.
  8. Really, really cheap!!
Cons:
  1. Begins to crease within two hrs.
  2. Needs some effort to make it last without creasing.
  3. Not a top brand.
Product Rating: 3.75/5. Mainly due to the creasing factor. The product is so easy on the pocket that I would recommend at least a one time buy.
Sometimes local brands can really surprise you............. in a good way!
What do you think? Write to me..
Stay beautiful!

Product Review:Maybelline Dream Matte Mousse Foundation

Hi All, time for some make up reviews.......

Today I am going to review:

Product Claim:

  • Air–whipped mousse. Matte perfection. Air–soft feel.
  • Revolutionary whipped formula provides an air – soft, perfect matte finish coverage, with a weightless feel.
  • Color pigments offer superior coverage.
  • Blends effortlessly for a soft, natural – looking, even – toned result.
  • Rs. 600 for 18 grams of product

My Experience:

I picked up this foundation from one of the Maybelline counters at a mall. The product comes in 5 different variants to suit different skin tones. The Sales Assistant (SA),suggested the Pure Beige Medium 2 would suit me. I wanted to try out the 2 shades next to this one but she insisted that Pure beige was the one. Indeed when she blended the product into my inner wrist, it blended in quite well (my kids were kind of going crazy in the background, so I didn't look too closely........should have). I happily bought the jar. As you can see in the picture that this comes in a heavy glass jar, that looks much larger than the actual product it contains.

Couple of days later I had a programme at my work place and I took it along with me so that I could apply it on my face just before the prog. Oh boy!! was I in for a shock!! I had this ghastly greyish cast on my face.......eeeeeeeeeeeekkkkkkkkkkk!! I had to wash it all off and manage with my Somi's Mint Moisturiser and compact.

The product had filled into the pores and cracks in the skin and looked horrendous!! Look!!

Can you see how the product got stuck on my nose?? well you might say that those are white-heads... then check this:

Can you see how the product kind of seeps into the cracks in the skin of my inner wrist?? It just refuses to blend in properly!!
Product Swatch
Initially when I saw the white cast on my face, I thought that the SA has given me the wrong shade. But when i tried it on my inner wrist, which is fairer than my face ............ but no luck. The product was wrong for me. Despite the white cast, it gives very poor coverage to skin imperfections.

Pros:
1. Nice, Sturdy packaging, easy to carry around in a purse.
2. Probably meant for younger skin with few imperfections.
3. Did not cause any skin irritation or break-out.

Cons (for me):
1. Didn't blend into my skin at all.
2. The product got stuck in the skin crevices.
3. Therefore leaves a white cast
4. hardly any coverage.
5. Overpriced for what it fails to do!!

Product Rating: 1/5. 1 because it just might be good for someone somewhere. Really my Rs. 600 down the drain!

Will I buy it again? Should I??

If you have used the product, tell me about your experience..............
