Product Review, Swatches and FOTD: Maybelline The Jewels By Colorsensational Lipstick in Amethyst Ablaze 591

Hey Everyone!

Today I will be reviewing the  Maybelline The Jewels By Colorsensational Lipstick in Amethyst Ablaze 591. I have worn this lipstick a couple of times and recently I was wearing this product when I invited a couple of old friends over for an informal get-together at home. I got a fair amount on compliments, so I decided to share the look with you too.

Product Claim:

A must have lipstick for all the lipstick hoarders! Maybelline Color Sensational Jewels Lipstick gives the perfect kissable shade to your lips. These comfortable, long-lasting lipsticks feature intense colour pigments for radiantly beautiful lips.
  • The formula does not settle into fine lines or feather around edges of lips.
  • This richly pigmented formula adds fullness and luster, immediately shaping and softening lips for a plush, cushiony, hydrating effect.
  • Available in 8 different shades.
Product Price: INR 375/ for 3.9gms

My take on the Product:

Maybelline The Jewels By Colorsensational Lipstick comes in a metal finish (steel) twist- up cylindrical container.  It has has a plastic, semi-transparent magenta cap with holographic rainbow accents.
The product comes in a traditional lipstick bullet form. The formula is very smooth and the lipstick glides over the lips easily and gives near opacity in the first application. In 2-3 swipes it gives full opacity. It has a lovely shimmer shine to it. Those who don't like this kind of shine, you may pat down lightly on your lips with the cushion of your finger and mattify it a bit.

The formula is quite moisturising and is richly pigmented. The lipstick has a good staying power of about 4-5 hrs. The pigment does fade a bit after that but leaves a nice stain behind. Amethyst Ablaze has tiny shimmer particles. Yet there is no gritty feeling on application or rubbing lips together. The product does not emphasize lip lines, nor does it settle into them.

I've quite liked the product and I am eyeing a few other shades form this range.

Pros:
  1. Attractive packaging.
  2. Great pigments
  3. Moisturising
  4. Lasts 4-5 hrs
  5. does not feather
  6. Does not sit in the liplines.
  7. Leaves a pretty stain
  8. 8 great shades.
  9. Great price point
Cons: Could do without that sticky sweet smell.

Overall Verdict: 4.9/5. 0.1 deducted for the slightly unpleasant smell. Otherwise a really great product!

Will I buy the product again? Sure! in a coupke of other shades too!!

What do you think? Have you used this lipstick? Do you like it? Let me know in the comments section below!

Avon Ultra Color Absolute Lipstick Review and Swatches

      Hey Everyone!

Today I will be doing a review and swatches of Avon Ultra Color Absolute Lipsticks.

Product Price: INR 500/- for 3.8gms

      Product Claim:

This winter get a lipstick with rich colour and deep moisturization, that keeps caring even after you've taken it off.

      6 Beauty Benefits
      • Collagen
      • Vitamin E
      • Vitamin C
      • SPF
      • Moisture
      • Health

      My take on the Products:

Avon Ultra Color Absolute Lipstick has 8 beautiful shades ranging from bright to neutrals and nearly nudes. The formula is quite creamy and it glides over the lips smoothly and give true, opaque colour in 2-3 swipes. The product is quite moisturising and feels like a lip balm after application. My lips continued to feel smooth and dewy even after the colour had worn off. The lipstick does not feather or bleed and did not emphasise the lines and you do not have to worry about exfoliating your lips before application. They are quite perfect for the winter.

The formula is not transfer proof and long lasting. To its credit, the product does not claim to be either. The product lased on my lips for about 3-4 hrs with some snacking and lots of talking (my job requires that ;))
Each of the shades are suitable for a wide range of Indian skin tones. The darker shades leave a faint stain which doesn't look half bad.

      Pros:
      1. Smooth and creamy formula
      2. Smooth application
      3. Give true colour in 2-3 swipes
      4. Moisturising, even after the lipstick wears off.
      5. Does not bleed or feather.
      6. No need to exfoliate lips before application.
      7. Colour range suitable for indian skin tones.
      8. Contains SPF (though does not mention how much)
      9. Fulfills its promise.
      Cons:
      1. Bit pricey, considering that they are not long lasting.
      Swatches:

      Bare Ruby

      Buttered Rum

      Rich Merlot

      Caring Coral

      Smooth Plum

      Coffee Creme

      Lovely Fuchsia

      Tea Rose

Bare Ruby, Rich Merlot and Smooth Plum are lovely autumn-winter colours. They could be worn in the evenings to add a dash of colour. The other five shades are lovely pastels suitable for day-time or work wear. They would look great worn with  smokey eye makeup.
Which shades do you like? Leave your comments in the box below.

      Take care!

Product Review: L'Oreal Paris Shine Caresse Lip Colour Shade 604: Bella

Today I am going to review a lovely product from the L'oreal Paris stables, the Shine Caresse lip gloss.
It comes in 8 beautiful shades with really pretty names: Lolita, Venus, Bella, Faye, Juliette, Milady, Eve and Pretty Woman.
Each of these shades can complement most Indian skin tones. I was tempted to buy all the colours but settled for Bella.
It is a lovely sheer pink, but can be built up to a more deeper shade.

Wearing a single sheer wash. No lip-Liner, to give you a feel of the actual product.
      My take on the product:
I had been eyeing this new product for sometime, and finally bought it about two weeks ago. At the L'Oreal counter, as the sales assistant applied shade after shade on the back of my hand, I noted that none of the shades were overwhelming. A light application gave sheer wash of colour. The colour, however deepens on its own after a couple of minutes of application due to interaction with body heat. However, each of these shades can be built up for a deeper colour pay off,  opacity and greater coverage, especially if you have pigmented lips.
I chose Shade 604: Bella, because I am partial to pinks.
The Product comes in a golden coloured plastic tube packaging With a little window which displays the shade. The tube is in turn packed in a gold and black coloured carton, again with a little peep-window for you to be able to see the shade (very handy!!). It comes with a leaf-shaped sponge applicator. There is a cute little dimple in the middle of the applicator which holds the product and releases it, depending on how much pressure you put. More pressure, more product. If you want a sheer coverage, just sweep the applicator lightly over your lips. If you want it deeper, just apply one or two more coats, but do wait for a few moments to let the previous coat settle.
The formula is light, much lighter and non-sticky than Maybelline Lip Polish, but a tad bit heavier than Sally Hansen Diamond Lip Treatment. But I did not have a problem with that. Shine Caresse has a very dewy look and is not high glamour dazzling shine, which makes it perfect for day-wear. There is a light fragrance as you apply it, but does not last too long.
The product though not completely transfer resistant, does not show up embarrassingly on cups/glasses.
The gloss lasts about 3-4 hrs with some light eating and drinking, but the stain stays on for 7-8 hrs. The stain also looks nice and not cracked due to its emollient nature.
All in all, the product stays true to its original claim.
      Pros:
      1. Light-wight
      2. Pigments can be adjusted from a sheer wash to a deeper tint.
      3. Not too shiny,so can be worn during a regular work-day.
      4. Nice range of shades. In face Juliette is a lovely red toned shade for those who are uncomfortable wearing very deep/bright shades of red.
      5. All shades suit the average Indian skin tone.
      6. Colour-stain long- lasting.
      7. Reasonably priced.
      Cons:
      Can't really think of any!!
Product Rating: 4.99/5. Only because the dewy shine wears off in about 4 hrs.
I will be going back for more shades.........!!!
      And you?

Product Review: Maybelline Color Sensational Lip Polish Glam 14

Today I will review a beautiful lip product from the Maybelline stables. It is called Colour Sensational Lip Polish. It is a 3-in-1 product which includes a lip balm, lip gloss and a lipstick rolled into one.
      Company claims:
Liquid color balm by Color Sensational A TRIO of CONCENTRATES:
1.Potent Color Extracts: Pure saturated color pigments that provide deep intense color like a lipstick. 2.Concentrated Liquid Balm: Moisturizing Liquid Conditioning Balm gets the lips ready for Intensely Rich color. Gives a soft Cushiony feel & care to the lips.
3.Glossy Shine Serum: Built-in glossy top-coat, that makes lips look fuller & more luscious. Specially designed Leaf-shaped applicator which makes application quick & precise.
It comes in a transparent plastic cuboid container with a silver colour cap. The actual inner tube which contains the product is shaped like a lipstick, which looks very cute. It comes with a leaf shaped applicator.

      Price: INR 450/-
      Quantity: 5 ml
      My Experience with the Product:
I had heard about this product from a friend and thought I would try it out. So I went to the Maybelline counter and asked the sales assistant for the product. The product has 16 shades, names starting with Glam 1 through Glam 16. It ranged from the nude to very high colour saturation with corals, plums, reds, pinks and browns. I picked up two shades Glam 6 and Glam 14. Glam 6 is a deep plum (I will put up pics in a couple of days). Here I will be reviewing Glam 14.
It is a lovely peachy nude with a light hint of pink. The formula is slightly sticky but not irritatingly so. It sits quite lightly on the lips. The sheer colour pay-off is good, but I think it will look different on different people due to the natural lip-colour of different people. The overall effect is beautiful. The colour and shine lasted for about 5 hrs through my evening coffee and dinner. But after 6 hrs first the gloss and then the colour began to fade. However, my lips did not feel dry or chapped. This product needs to be used along with a lip liner or else it may bleed along the tiny folds along the lips.

      Glam 13
      Glam 13

      Pros:
      1. Great colour pay-off.
      2. Good lip coverage.
      3. Good formula, not too sticky or heavy on the lips
      4. Long-lasting.
      5. Good price
      Cons:
      1. Compared to L'oreal Shine Caresse Lip Gloss, it has a slightly heavier and stickier formula. But nothing I can't handle.
      2. transfers on to cups when drinking.

      Product Rating: 4.75/5
Will I buy this product again? Yes! Though in a different shade. Highly recommended for those who like high gloss lip colours!
