LOTD: Monsoon Greens

Hi Everyone!

Its been a while since I did a look. The monsoon rains have turned Delhi a beautiful green. So taking inspiration from this beautiful hue Delhi is sporting, I created this simple look. I wore this look to attend a puja ceremony at  friend's house. I've kept the look as natural and homey as possible since it was a small and intimate gathering. I have used a green, shimmery eye shadow from the Make Up Revolution London eye palette. I have kept the rest of the look neutral with peachy cheeks and nude lips, to draw attention to the eyes, which are the highlight of this look.

Products Used for the Look:
  1. Polaar Icy Magic Instant Skin Perfector
  2. Lakme 9 to 5 Flawless Makeup Foundation in Shell
  3. Lakme Absolute Face Stylist Concealer in (05) Honey
  4. Chambor Silver Shadow Compact (RR5)
  5. Beauty UK Blush in (04) Rustic Peach
  6. Be  Bombshell All in One Stick in Champagne Shimmer
  7. Make Up Revolution London Eye Shadow Palette in Redemption Palette Hot Smoked
  8. Himalaya Kajal
  9. Maybelline New York The Colossal Liner Pen in Black
  10. Lakme Perfect Definition Lip Liner in (01) Irish Coffee
  11. Maybelline New York Lip Polish in Glam 13
I did not use a mascara since it was really humid and as of now I do not own a water proof mascara. Idid not want to chance any mascara meltin down my eyelashes. I do not really like using waterproof mascara because it is difficult to remove and I don't like to scrub too hard around the very delicate eye area.

If you notice, I have not used a primer either. Actually I have been testing out the Polaar Icy Magic Instant Skin Perfector. I wanted to see how it would work without a primer.

What do you think of this look? Let me know in the comments section below!

P.S. Don't mind the hair. I've never been to good with hairdos and the humidity right now has messed it up further :(

Day #5 of 7Days 7Eyes Challenge with Sugar Eye Told You So! Waterproof Eyeliner

Hello Everyone!

How had your week shaped up so far? My week has been quite happenning,  with work and the fun that I've been having with the 7Days 7Eyes Challenge I've set myself.

I'm going a bit retro today and have created a 60's Bollywood eye.....

This is a super easy look to create. Most of you know a bold cat-eye can really make your eyes look larger and that wa the secret of the doe-eyed beauties that graced the cine screens of the 60's in Bollywood (Hindi Film Industry in India).

Begin by applying a pale shimmer on your top eyelid. I have used Avon Simply Pretty Marbelized Eye Shadow Stick in Emerald Icon Boldline your upper lash with  Sugar Eye Told You So! Waterproof Eyeliner in Black and boldly flick the outer edge of the top lash. Tightline the lower lash. You are done!

Share your eyeliner ideas too in the comments section below.....

Day #4 of 7Days 7Eyes Challenge with Sugar Eye Told You So Waterproof EyeLiner

Hi Everyone!

I'm having a ball with this challenge! How do you like it so far? Lets have some more fun today. Let's make some dolly eyes..

Many of us have played with dolls in our younger days. Remember how the eyelashes were were drawn on dolls which did not have auto closing eyes?

Just tightline your lashes and draw short vertical or slightly diagonal strokes from the base of the lashes, outwards. I have used Sugar Eye Told You So Waterproof EyeLiner. This can be futher dramatized, if you draw longer strokes. You might scare the daylights out of folks on Halloween!

Product Review: Sally Hansen Maximum Growth Plus Nourishing Nail Color

Hi All!

Today I will be reviewing a Nail color for the house of Sally Hansen.  Sally Hansen has been a well known brand for hand and foot care and especially their range of nail products.Their nail colours boast of nail protecting and growth properties. I had received this particular product in my FabBag a couple of months ago. Let's see how this product fared on me...

Product Price: INR 675/- for 13.3 ml of product

Product Claim:

A growth treatment that fortifies and protects nails so they can grow. Triple-protein and silk formula instantly reinforces soft, bitten and weak nails.

 Ingredients:

BUTYL ACETATE, ETHYL ACETATE, ALCOHOL DENAT., NITROCELLULOSE, ADIPIC ACID/NEOPENTYL GLYCOL/TRIMELLITIC ANHYDRIDE COPOLYMER, ISOPROPYL ALCOHOL, TRIMETHYL PENTANYL DIISOBUTYRATE, TRIPHENYL PHOSPHATE, ETOCRYLENE, BENZOPHENONE-1, HYDROLYZED CORN/SOY/WHEAT PROTEIN THIOGLYCOLAMIDE/ THIOPROPIONAMIDE, HYDROLYZED SILK, CAPRYLYL GLYCOL, PHENOXYETHANOL, CHLORPHENESIN, BUTYLENE GLYCOL, HEXYLENE GLYCOL, D&C RED NO. 6 BARIUM LAKE (CI 15850), D&C YELLOW NO. 5 ALUMINUM LAKE (CI 19140).

My Take on the Product:

I got the colour Tender Mulberry (31) in a FabBag. Its a nice neutral pink shade which would suit most Indian skin tones. The product come in a transparent glass bottle with a plastic cap with a steel finish. The consistency of the nail polish is more runny than most formulae I have used. The product is enriched with  Soy proteins and vitamins A,C and E. These additives are to help protect the nails from chipping and breaking, so you can allow you nails to grow. The application brush is thinner than any other nail polish I have used. It makes the application more accurate. This Nail polish needs at least two coats to come close to an opaque finish. For full opacity, I needed 3 coats. The product dries pretty quickly, but the process slows down after the second and third coats are applied.

I like the colour since its a nice summery pastel and I could carry it off with most of my clothes that I wore through the week. The polish stayed well for two days after which it began to fade away from the tips of my nails. I had to reapply the polish to my tips on the 3rd day. I like my nail paint to last at leat 5 days before I remove it and let my nails rest. So this was a bit disappointing.

As for nail protection and maximum growth, I can't really say. I do not have any major chipping or breaking problem, so I don't know whether it helped my nails or not.

Pros:
  1. Well known brand
  2. Contains Soy proteins and Vitamins A,C and E
  3. Pretty Shade, will look good on a variety of skin tones.
  4. Slim brush for easy and accurate application.
  5. Transparent glass bottle makes it easy to spot the colour from among others.
Cons:
  1. Faded from tips within two days.
  2. Needs at least 3 coats to give opacity.
  3. Drying time between coats is an issue.
  4. Quite Pricey.
Overall Verdict: 2.5/5. I'm not so happy with the product. The nail polish began to fade the very next day of application.  I have better nail polishes at much lower prices. It is unlikely that I will buy this product.

Day #2 of 7Days 7Eyes with Sugar Eye Told You So Waterproof Eye Liner

Hi Everyone!
FabBag announced a contest about creating different eye looks using Sugar Eye Told You So Waterproof Eye Liner. So I thought why not make it a bit more challenging for myself.  Then was born the 7Days 7Eyes Challenge.
What did you think of Day #1? What are we doing on Day #2?
The ANKH

When your eyes are open, it looks like any other lined eyes, but when you close them.......
Again, a very easy to create look. Choose your favourite eyeshadow palette. I have chosen Makeup Revolution London Eye shadow palette in Redemption Essential Shimmers.  Make sure the shades are more towards the neutral end of the spectrum. The liner is the prima donna, you can't overshadow her with too dark shades...
Once you have shadowed your eyes, draw a medium thick line using the Sugar Eye Told You So Waterproof Eye Liner along your upper lash line. Wing it boldly at the outer corner of your eye.
Take the eyeliner wand and from the end of the winged tip, trace the liner between your crease line and eyebrow towards the centre. There you are...
Apply a black kohl along your lower water line. I have used Florelle Kohl in black.

What do you think? Try it out and let me know.

Three Random Things Vol 18

Hello Everyone!

Hope you had a great weekend. Mine was spent tending to my older daughter who was down with a bad bout of cough and cold. But now she's much better.....

What are my random thoughts for this week?

Q1. Did you fall ill often when you were a kid?

Ans: Not very often. But when I did, it wasn't pretty. Typhoid and then a relapse. Then I had typhoid and malaria together. Couldn't have been easy on my parents...

Q2. What do you save for?

Ans: My children's future education and marriage (if they would want to get married, I obviously would) and mt retirement.

Q3. Epic Fantasy stories or Reality Shows?

Ans: Epic fantasies any day. I loved 'Once Upon a Time'. Interesting take on popular fairy tales. Most reality shows are so scripted.

I tag you to answer  the following questions:

Q1. Did you fall ill often when you were a kid?
Q2. What do you save for?
Q3. Epic Fantasy stories or Reality Shows?

You do not have to answer all. Answer as many as you wish. Hoping to hear from you soon...

Empties Post July 2015

Hello All!

So here comes my second installment of Empties. So far I have stuck to my resolution of buying 1 for every 2 products that I finish. Thus far I have not bought any new product. The only incoming ones are the ones in my FabBag and My Envy Box. So what are my Empties for this month? Keep on reading......

Vaseline Intensive Care Healthy White Skin Lightening Body Milk. My mother had picked up this sample bottles from a visiting sales rep. This product was lying at the bottom of my drawer for nearly a year when I rediscovered it in April of this year. The texture of the product was runny and got absorbed into the skin fairly rapidly. It had a light powdery smell, nothing to write about really. Did it whiten my skin? I don't really care about whitening products, so I didn't really watch out for that. Will I be purchasing this product? No, because this has no SPF and didn;t really strike me as a must have.
Product Price: I don't remember!

Aaahh! Lacto Calamine! This product has been my friend since my mom introduced me to it when I was 15. These were days before tinted moisturisers and BB Creams and even SPFed sunscreens. This was a must have for all oily skinned girls. It acted as an oil-free moisturizer, sunscreen, a teenager's foundation, pimple treatment, the list is quite endless. I have not given it up still and it finds a place on my dresser even today. Of course now I buy the tiniest bottle since I don't use it as much as I used to. I use it now during summer evenings when I'm at home and have no plans of going out. It gives a nice matte finish and keeps oil at bay for about 2 hours after which it begins to oxidize on my skin. In extreme humid conditions this period is reduced of course. But so are most similar products. Will I rebuy? Now they have a variant for dry skin as well, which I'd like to try out in the coming winter months.

Product Price: INR 55/- for 30ml

BeautyLab Smart Defence Daily Moisturiser with SPF 20 is not exactly this months Empty. I finished this product in March actually and I only found the bottle this month as I was rearranging my dresser. Since I had only 2 official entries for this month's empties, I decided to add this in. I was quite happy with this product that I received in one of my Fabbags. I could definitely see an inprovement in my skin. It felt plumper and glowy. Will I buy this product? There are a few other similar skin products that I want to try. So no, not immediately.

Product Price: INR 2800/-  for 30 ml

So that's it for this month, folks!
